2002 and 2003
Ohio state harmonica championships first place winner. 2004 Diatonic harmonica player of the year
and Blues Harmonica player of the year at
The National Harmonica League of Great Britain, Frank Bard, from Champaign county Ohio,
and his super sideman,
guitarist, Jr. Smith, from Clark county Ohio, make up this guitar harmonica duo. Now available for bookings for music
entertainment for
festivals & events, meetings, parties, or just any place where affordable, quality music entertainment is needed.
Both Smith & Bard have been playing in bands of many different music genres for the biggest part
of their lives. Back about ten years ago, they met while performing together in a local bluegrass band, where Smith
played acoustic guitar and Bard played dobro. Since the harmonica isn't a traditional bluegrass instrument, Bard
didn't play it much in that band, although bluegrass harmonica is one of his favorite styles.
Smith & Bard started performing as a guitar harmonica duo, where they play instrumental tunes from
a wide variety of music genres including, blues, country, western swing, gospel, bluegrass and more. They play a lot
of easy listening ballads and mellow music, although they can really pep it up at times. Since providing music
entertainment for festivals in their area is one of their favorite gigs to play, they plan to expand the geographic
area they perform in to preferably all of Ohio and other near by states.
In 2001, Smith & Bard collaborated to produce their first music CD called, "Harmonica from the
Heartland", although they didn't do it as a guitar harmonica duo only. They recruited six other local acoustic
instrumentalists who they had played with over the years to complete that project. They all enjoyed doing it, and are
very happy with the sound. Check out their Sound clips on the reviews page.
Since the group consists of only two people, they're able to offer music entertainment for
festivals & events etc., for an affordable price. If you're interested in booking them, e-mail either Jr. Smith, or
e-mail Frank Bard for more details.
